Hardwicke
is an ancient village
south of Gloucester. Its name is derived from "Herd
- wick", a village with herds of sheep or
cows.

Nowadays
most of our parishioners live on the housing estates to the
north of the Church.
+
Elmore is
a small farming community adjacent to the River Severn, the major building in this
community is Elmore Court,
the seat of the Guise family since the middle ages.

Today
the economy is still based on farming with newer arrivals
commuting to work
+
Longney. is
also a farming community which has a very popular primary
school.

The
derivation of the name is "Long-ney" a long
raised area close to a river.
